Vigil in memory for the victims of Channel drownings
Last night, a Vigil was held in memory for the victims of Channel drownings.
A year ago,on the 24th November, 32 people lost their lives in the Channel, after their pleas for help were ignored from both the British and the French authorities as they were shifting responsibilities to one another based on the position of the boat, English or French water. Whilst this was happening, over the course of 12 hours, 32 people drowned, slowly to death.
People, including the families of the victims gathered in Vigil on Parliament Square in prayer, sorrow and anger, holding photos and the names of families, men and women that lost their lives.
